I like to practice the guitar for about an hour or so a day. The biggest tip I can tell you is to practice your pieces slowly at first, and when you get it down, then start speeding it up. The worst thing is when you try to practice the piece fast before you have it down slow and get into a bad habit of making mistakes. For example, I learned a solo from a song I cover and I never practiced it slowly, and to this day I struggle to play it correctly.
Here are some helpful links to sites that I think are the best for learning guitar, from beginners to experts. I have tested all these sites myself and they have helped me in my playing, so hopefully they can do the same for you.

This program is great for learning the notes on the fretboard, good for beginners to experts. From the developer: "Fretboard Warrior is a free program designed to help guitar students to memorize the fretboard. The rules are simple, click the note that corresponds to the blue dot on the fretboard. The bottom string corresponds to the 6th string and the upper string corresponds to the 1st string."
